When nineteen-year-old Cleo Lenard starts
having dreams about an alternate universe, which she cannot escape from,
nightmares become reality. Cleo is living in two different worlds. She longs to
have a normal life with Hayden by her side but even with trips to a
psychologist and many useless medications, she cannot escape her fate. Cleo
envisions things that cannot be explained with normal medicine alone. In the
human world, doctors must force their way into her twisted mind which causes
them to create a new neurological invention. In an alternate universe, Cleo
befriends Coral, a creature unknown to the human race. Together, they must
embark on a journey to bring peace back to Coral’s world and to save Cleo’s
life. Over time, Cleo passes down the ability to see and experience the world
of the Socumyas to her fifteen-year-old daughter, Asha. Cleo learns the truth
about why she has the ability to have these dreams and why it will be passed on
to her daughter. Asha is taunted and bullied in school and wishes for a regular
life. When she learns of her mother’s biggest secret and befriends Samuel, a
Socumya, she wishes she could escape her world and have peace in the world of
the Socumyas.
